Finale!

I just needed to remove the obscene language from sitting on top of my blog, so I decided to write another entry!
Though I am completely drawing a blank on what to talk about. There's so much going on right now, finals, organizing my summer, my sister's graduation, other things maybe? I cant even think straight anymore. Alright well, I'll go back to studying having pushed down that dirty text just a little bit. Hopefully later I'll have thought of something fun to talk about, and I'll be able to replace this boring post with something a little more exciting!

'Til Then!

Skidcess

I don't care that life is short, or that death is long
I don't care that humanity is enormously insignificant
I don't care that I'm nothing more than a hole in god's condom
all I want to know is if what I'm doing is right,
I want to know that the path I've chosen is my own
I'm okay with my measly existence as long as I find my way
I must succeed.
For if I don't, there is no point.

P.S. all of these photographs were taken using my cellphone,
I know look how fancy they are!
The panorama pictures on the bottom are made up of
tons and tons of individual photos and are actually gigantic.
If you want to see them larger I can try uploading them.
I should definitely sell them to the school to put on their website, they're kinda da bomb.

You Wouldn't Download a Car

I have for you another post about zombies. I didn't even want to do it, but some 200 or more people at school have decided to participate in a rather large game of Humans Vs. Zombies. Which is basically tag for college students, involving guns...and socks. I bring this up mostly because my ability to draw the skeletal structure of my arm on my arm finally has a purpose! As soon as I'm killed and begin my transformation into a zombie I intend to, along with the help of a friend, draw a fleshy skeletal structure on my arms.
It will look something like this + flesh. (for those of you who were there, this is the more finished version of what I was working on in class some week or two ago.)

I wanted to talk about something different this week, which is why the title of this post has nothing to do with the content. Originally I was going to discuss piracy. As it fits with what we've been discussing in class as far as controversial topics go. Maybe I should have suggested it for our debate. You might be able to debate the legality, as you could argue that stealing requires the original to be taken, while in most cases of piracy, the original is intact and a copy is made. I think it would be more interesting though to debate the benefits of piracy. Major corporations argue huge losses due to piracy, but is that really true?
You can post a comment about how you feel about piracy, or your arguments for/against it. Next week's post will feature it. Sooooo GET PUMPED.

Also for your viewing pleasure:
while photoshopping my arm, I hit delete, and this happened...I thought it looked kinda cool, so I saved it.

Also, for the completely off topic funnies:

Isaac Bruner

After rereading a passage from Bruner, titled "The Language of Education" I was reminded of a letter I had read by Isaac Asimov like five months ago. My creepy browser fortunately still remembered that I viewed it, and I was able to find it again.  What connected these two in my mind was they both describe alternate versions of education. While Bruner focuses on this and makes it his point, Assimov is yelling at someone who wrote him a letter, but in doing so brings into question our view of right and wrong. Bruner's passage suggests that education shouldn't be based off of force fed information. There shouldn't be a set of rules or set of facts that we all need to learn. Rather education should be a forum, where things can be debated, and discussed openly. The system currently in use suggests students are ignorant and need to be shown the right answer; this method does not involve learning. Assimov discusses right and wrong, and how those two terms are not in fact so black and white. The point of his passage is to apply this to more grand theories, but in doing so he starts with examples of school children. One example he gives, involves answers to the question 2+2, to which one student responds "purple" and the other "17." While neither student is correct, it is not unreasonable to say that "17," is more correct than "purple." He provides more, and better examples, and I would highly recommend reading it, it is quite interesting. (Link)

The force feeding of facts such as Bruner describes is similar to the black and white view of right and wrong. There is a correct answer and an incorrect answer, and they are determined by the instructor, thus you learn what they want you to learn. The forum that Bruner wishes education was, is similar to the gray area that Assimov describes as existing for right and wrong. It involves discussion, imagination and more than one right answer.

Let me give you a Hand

Most of these photos were taken a while ago, but I wanted to go for something a little more fun than my usual post. I was reflecting on how my blog has been, and I cant say that I am all that excited by it. Luckily I have the power to change that! So I'm going to start by sharing with you some photos of my arm.
At first I doodled on paper, (I even still do, but I think I call it "sketching" now) then I got sort of bored with the pencil paper bit and decided to try a new canvas--which turned out to be my arm.
I think it's really just more fun, drawing on paper is just so boring. So here are a bunch of pictures of the drawings I've done over the years. There were actually a ton more, unfortunately I neglected to take pictures of them before they were washed away. I even found a picture of a doodle I did on a friend, and one that glow under black-light! there might even be more buried deep inside my phone, or computer, or possibly even floating around the internet. If I can track 'em down I'll try to put them up.
ENJOY.

My Body's a Zombie For You

My sleeping habits have gone WAY downhill lately, if anyone needed a zombie extra for a movie right now, you got one right here, no make-up required. It's really bad, my bed is calling to me as I write this, yeah I'm going to continue from there. -- Okay, in bed-- so this evening despite being exhausted I went with a friend to the ceramics studio to take photographs, and bother him while he worked. I actually got some nice shots, I'll try to get them up tomorrow, my camera is unfortunately not on my bed, and it seems it's going to stay out of arms reach 'til morning.
I'm SO excited to sleep in my own bed in 2 nights, that may be the highlight of my spring break. I even have other plans, but that definitely seems to be the what I'm looking forward to most.
Sadly before that I have to give a presentation in organic chemistry lab. If anyone wants to BS for about 10 minutes on organic electronics tomorrow morning, at about 8:30, hit me up.
My Brain is actually Jello right now, if you would like to comment on a post with a little more substance, try my post from last week, just below this one.

--P.S. In looking for a picture of zombies on Google, I came across a website of an organization which apparently organize free zombie walks? Like, get together with your friends, get covered in fake blood and such, and walk around town together? -- I wanna go. Ashtoberfest - Zombie Walk check it out it actually looks amusing

On Holiday!

Would you rather a 4 day work week? Each day would be 2 hours longer, but then you could have a 3 day weekend, every weekend. The math works, because instead of 5, 8 hour days, it would be 4, 10 hour days, both equal 40 hour work weeks. Best of all this is not just some crazy idea I had, people are actually talking about it! companies benefit from the power saved from being closed down an extra day. They even tried this in Utah. They ran the experiment for 12 months and supposedly the companies saved around 13% on power by being closed the extra day, and on top of that, workers saved approximately 6 million dollars, by not having to buy gas or commute the extra day. This did worlds of good for the environment, and the worker's pockets. I was wondering how you would feel about a 4 day workweek? the 10 hour days are long, and some of the people who tested it in Utah did not like it as they couldn't find extended day care for their children. Any other ideas as to potential negative effects?
